Goafest honours Prasoon Joshi’s Prasar Bharati appointment

Industry leaders at Goafest 2026 recognised Prasoon Joshi’s appointment as chairman of Prasar Bharati alongside his Omnicom leadership role.

India’s advertising, media and communications industry came together at Goafest 2026 to felicitate Prasoon Joshi following his appointment as chairman of Prasar Bharati. The appointment comes in addition to his existing responsibilities at Omnicom.

Joshi, regarded as one of India’s prominent creative leaders, writers and communication strategists, has played a significant role in shaping cultural narratives and brand storytelling across advertising and media. The recognition at Goafest highlighted his contribution to Indian advertising and acknowledged the industry’s confidence in his ability to help shape the future direction of India’s public broadcasting network.

The appointment was positioned as a convergence of creativity, public communication and cultural understanding, reflecting the increasing role of communication leaders in national media and public institutions. Industry members noted that Joshi’s experience across advertising, literature, cinema and public communication gives him a distinct perspective in leading a public broadcaster operating across diverse audiences and languages.

Over the years, Joshi has worked across advertising campaigns, film writing, literature and public messaging, building a reputation for combining creative storytelling with cultural insight. His leadership is expected to contribute to Prasar Bharati’s role as a public institution focused on information, representation and national outreach.

Speaking at the event, Padma Shri Prasoon Joshi, chairman, Omnicom Advertising India and chairman, Prasar Bharati, said, “Recognition from one’s own fraternity is always special. In addition to his creative and corporate roles, he has previously served as chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification and has authored several books.

Goafest is jointly organised by the Advertising Agencies Association of India and The Advertising Club. The event annually brings together professionals from advertising, media, marketing and communications to discuss trends, creativity and industry developments.

The felicitation underscored the industry’s recognition of leadership that spans advertising, storytelling and public communication, while also reflecting the growing overlap between brand-building expertise and institutional media leadership.
