Mindshare dominated The Advertising Club’s Emvies 2016 to retain the Agency of the Year accolade with a total of 395 points. The GroupM agency bagged a Grand Emvie, nine Gold, 18 Silver and 15 Bronze awards (scroll down for Agency of the Year points table).
The Grand Emvie was awarded to PepsiCo campaign 'When consumers became co-marketers'.
Six of the agency’s Gold trophies were for the campaign '6 Pack Band' for Brooke Bond Red Label Tea, one of which was for ‘Best use of a Bollywood celebrity in media’, a category that did not count towards the points tally.
Mindshare also bagged a Gold each for 'Lay's Machine' (PepsiCo), 'Our Mast Strategy for Bajirao Mastani' (Eros Films) and 'Before Iftar Time It's Lifebuoy Time' (HUL).
Hindustan Unilever bagged Media Client of the Year, which Tata Sky had claimed last year. HUL had won the title (jointly with Tata Global Beverages) in 2014 (scroll down for Client of the Year points table).
Lodestar HM inches ahead of Maxus
Lodestar UM and Maxus finished with 135 points each.
By virtue of winning more Gold trophies, Lodestar UM stood second on the points tally, claiming seven Gold, three Silver and three Bronze awards.
Four of the Gold wins of the agency were for 'The World's first street named after street kids' for Door Step School. One of these wins was for 'Best Implementation Team of the Year', which did not add to the points tally.
Lodestar UM won two Gold awards for work on Salaam Bombay Foundation, one each for 'A resume from the future, helped change the future of a little girl' and 'An experience that funded education of 200 girls'.
The agency also bagged Gold for 'The Musical Journey Continues' for Coca-Cola India.
2014 Agency of the Year Maxus’ tally consisted of four Gold, five Silver and five Bronze trophies this year. Two of the Gold awards were for Tata Motors' 'How we helped Tata Motors save Rs 550+ crores'. The agency also won a Gold each for work on Shopclues and Alpenliebe.
Other Gold winners
Madison Media won two Gold, two Silver and five Bronze awards to finish fourth. The Gold wins were for 'Saffola World Heart Day' for Marico and 'Rongborsha – Simplifying Shades of Bengal' for Asian Paints Tractor Emulsion.
PHD India won a Gold, three Silver and four Bronze awards. 'Rin Career Academy' for HUL bagged Gold. Ronnie Thomas from the agency also won the Gold in the Young Emvie competition (category doesn’t count towards points tally).
Mediacom's wins included two Gold, three Silver and two Bronze awards. Ariel #DadsShareTheLoad for P&G India won Gold. In the Best Use of Celebrity category that does not carry points, the agency bagged Gold, also for Share the Load, for the entry 'Celebrities and their parents come together to teach laundry lessons'.
Initiative India was also among the Gold winners on the night. Its win was for 'Indians want more choice... Aur Dikhao' for Amazon Seller Services India.The agency also bagged a Silver.
Jossbox bagged Gold for 'The Transformation Series' for Tata Tetley Tea in the category Best Media Innovation from Media Agencies (not exceeding Rs 50 crore annual billing), which does not count towards the points tally.
