Confiance wins Libertario Coffee India communications mandate

Confiance Communications takes on Libertario Coffee India’s strategic communications, focusing on narrative building, media presence and positioning in the specialty coffee segment.

Confiance Communications has been appointed as the strategic communications partner for Libertario Coffee India, marking a move to strengthen the brand’s positioning within India’s evolving café and specialty coffee market.

Founded in 2015, Libertario Coffee Co. & Roasters is a Colombian specialty coffee company with a foundation in coffee production, exporting and hospitality. The brand’s lineage includes the globally recognised La Palma y El Tucán coffee farm, which supplies specialty coffee to buyers across 32 countries. Building on this background, Libertario has expanded into a consumer-facing café brand with a presence across five countries.

Since its India launch in July 2025 under the leadership of Miguel Villaquirán, founder and ceo of Libertario India, the brand has focused on creating a hospitality-led café experience. Its approach combines curated physical spaces, immersive formats and a structured coffee programme that integrates Colombian and locally sourced coffees. This positioning underpins its early traction in the market.

Under the new mandate, Confiance Communications will develop a cohesive brand narrative that aligns Libertario’s global heritage with its local ambitions. The communications strategy will focus on building consistent visibility across business and lifestyle media, positioning the brand not only as a premium café offering but also as a culturally relevant player in India’s specialty coffee landscape.

The scope of work includes amplifying Libertario’s expansion plans as it strengthens its footprint in Delhi NCR and prepares for a broader multi-city presence. The mandate also involves highlighting the founder’s perspective, the brand’s global-to-local approach and the broader consumer shift towards experience-led café formats. In addition, the agency will work to enhance Libertario’s visibility within investor and startup ecosystems through narrative-driven storytelling.

Bushra Ismail, founder and chief strategist, Confiance Communications, said, “Libertario brings together something that is still rare in India’s café ecosystem: a genuine integration of origin, craft, and hospitality. What stands out is not just the quality of coffee, but the intent to build a culturally immersive experience around it. Our focus will be on shaping this story in a way that resonates equally with consumers, media, and the broader business ecosystem.”

Villaquirán added, “India represents a long-term opportunity for us to build something meaningful within the specialty coffee space. Our journey here is not just about introducing Colombian coffee, but about creating spaces that reflect craft, community, and global sensibilities. With Confiance, we are looking forward to building a narrative that captures both our heritage and our vision for India.”

The mandate reflects a focus on storytelling that integrates brand heritage with market relevance. As the specialty coffee segment in India continues to evolve, the partnership aims to establish a differentiated voice anchored in authenticity, experience and a consistent brand narrative.
