BC Jindal appoints Sanjay Bhargava as CEO

BC Jindal Group has appointed Sanjay Bhargava to lead its power business and oversee operational performance at its Odisha facility.

New Delhi-based BC Jindal Group has appointed Sanjay Bhargava as chief executive officer of Jindal India Power Limited, the company’s power business arm. The announcement marks a senior leadership move for the conglomerate, which has a turnover of over INR 18,000 crore and operates across packaging films, energy and steel products.

In his new role, Bhargava will focus on improving operational efficiency and strengthening performance at the company’s 1,200 MW thermal power generation facility in Odisha. The plant comprises two 600 MW units and was commissioned in 2015 by the BC Jindal Group, led by promoter Shyam Sunder Jindal. According to the company, the facility has continued to record increasing Plant Load Factor (PLF) levels year after year.

A spokesperson for BC Jindal Group said, “We are pleased to welcome Sanjay Bhargava as the Chief Executive Officer of Jindal India Power Limited. He brings a wealth of experience with him to the company alongside expertise of India’s power sector. We believe his leadership and experience will support and contribute to the company’s continued growth.”

Bhargava brings more than 35 years of experience in the thermal power sector. His expertise spans multiple areas of the power industry, including power sales strategy, plant operations and maintenance, commercial and regulatory functions, advocacy, and business development. During his career, he has also been associated with companies including Tata Power.

Bhargava said, “I am delighted to join Jindal India Power Limited as the Chief Executive Officer. Along with the talented team at the plant, I look forward to continue driving operational excellence and sustainable growth at the facility. I am thankful to the leadership at BC Jindal Group for entrusting me with this opportunity.”

The appointment comes as Jindal India Power continues to expand its presence in the power supply segment through multiple Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with state DISCOMs and other consumers. The company has entered into short-term, medium-term and long-term agreements across regions including Bihar, Haryana, Delhi and Noida.

Founded in 1952 by Shri BC Jindal, the BC Jindal Group operates across diverse business sectors and continues to strengthen its leadership team as part of its growth strategy. The appointment of Bhargava is expected to support the company’s operational and business objectives in the energy sector while reinforcing its long-term expansion plans.
