Air India launches Cloud Chasers for young flyers

Air India has introduced a new children’s travel programme focused on improving onboard engagement and family travel experiences.

Air India has launched ‘Cloud Chasers’, a new programme designed to enhance travel experiences for children and families across its global network. The initiative brings together the airline’s child-focused products and services under a single platform, while introducing new onboard engagement formats, entertainment options and travel support services.

The launch comes as family travel continues to grow, with the segment increasing by 13% between 2024 and 2025. The airline said the programme has been developed to address the changing expectations of families travelling with children and to create more engaging experiences for younger passengers.

A central part of the programme is a redesigned avatar of Air India’s Maharaja mascot. Reimagined as a younger and more adventurous character, the new version has been created to connect with children throughout their journey. The updated Maharaja will appear across multiple brand touchpoints within the ‘Cloud Chasers’ universe, including activity kits and First Flight Certificates.

As part of the onboard experience, children aged between three and nine years travelling on long-haul and ultra-long-haul flights exceeding eight hours will receive branded activity kits. These include puzzles, games, drawing sections and discovery-based prompts developed around the ‘Cloud Chasers’ theme and featuring the Maharaja’s new avatar.

Air India has also redesigned its First Flight Certificate for children travelling for the first time. Signed by the captain and crew, the certificates are intended to serve as personalised keepsakes for young passengers. Parents can request the certificates during travel.

The airline has also expanded its child-focused entertainment offering across the Vista inflight entertainment system and Vista Stream platform. The ‘Kids Zone’ on Vista offers more than 130 hours of content, while Vista Stream provides over 35 hours of children’s programming accessible through personal electronic devices.

The entertainment portfolio includes collaborations with global content partners such as Moonbug and Red Bull TV. The programming spans animated and educational content for children aged between three and 13 years. Interactive features include ‘Kids Maps’ and games such as UNO, Angry Birds, Chess and Ludo Race.

To extend the entertainment proposition beyond video content, Air India has partnered with Vobble to provide educational and audio-based storytelling formats aimed at reducing screen time for children during flights.

Rajesh Dogra, chief customer experience officer, Air India, said, “With Cloud Chasers, we are reimagining what it means for families with kids to fly Air India. We have curated this programme with careful attention to what our young travellers truly need and designed thoughtful experiences that will make their journeys with us more joyful and fun. With this launch, we have also introduced our iconic Maharaja in a new, playful avatar. As the summer vacations set in, we are happy to give kids another reason to travel with us. This launch marks the first phase of a long-term vision, and travellers can expect more enhancements as we continue to elevate Air India’s family travel experience.”

Alongside onboard engagement, the programme also includes operational support for families. Priority boarding and check-in assistance will be available for families travelling with children, wherever operationally feasible. Select domestic and international flights will also offer infant meals and bassinet seating options.

Air India said the initiative is part of its broader effort to strengthen passenger experience and reinforce its hospitality proposition for family travellers through dedicated customer support and trained cabin crew assistance.
