Adobe appoints Shamik Basu to lead India creative products

Adobe strengthens its India leadership with a senior appointment to drive product innovation and AI-led creative platform development.

Adobe has appointed Shamik Basu as vice president, creative products group in India, reinforcing its focus on scaling innovation and product development from the region. Based in Noida, Basu will lead Adobe India’s engineering and product management teams and report to Ely Greenfield, chief technology officer, creative products group. He will also be part of the Adobe India leadership team, contributing to the company’s strategic growth and innovation agenda.

The appointment reflects Adobe’s continued investment in India as a priority market, particularly in the context of AI-driven creativity and digital experience platforms. India plays a central role in advancing Adobe’s creator-first approach, with local teams contributing to product innovation across Pro Design, Digital Imaging, Video and Firefly. The move signals a deeper alignment between global product strategy and regional execution, especially as demand for intelligent creative tools grows.

Greenfield said: “India is a priority market for Adobe and key to advancing intelligent, creator-first experiences at scale. Our India engineering and product teams drive critical innovation across Pro Design, Digital Imaging, Video and Firefly, while bringing deep insight from one of our fastest-growing AI markets. Shamik’s experience building intelligent, large-scale platforms will strengthen local leadership, deepen global alignment and power the next phase of Adobe’s growth.”

Basu’s role will involve close collaboration with global teams working on flagship products such as Adobe Firefly, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom and Premiere Pro. These platforms are central to Adobe’s positioning in the creative economy, particularly as generative AI reshapes content creation workflows and brand storytelling.

Basu said: “It is an exciting time to join Adobe—the company at the forefront of shaping creativity in the age of AI. I look forward to partnering with teams across India and the globe to build experiences that set the next benchmark in creative technology.”

His mandate includes elevating India’s role across creativity and productivity functions, while strengthening its contribution to Adobe’s global innovation pipeline. This includes driving product excellence, enhancing user experiences and supporting the integration of AI capabilities across Adobe’s ecosystem. The focus on scalable, intelligent platforms aligns with broader industry trends where marketing, content creation and customer experience are increasingly powered by automation and data-led insights.

Basu joins Adobe after more than three decades in the technology sector, most recently at Microsoft, where he led advancements in performance, reliability and AI-powered experiences for a global user base. His experience in building large-scale platforms is expected to support Adobe’s ambitions to expand its creative and productivity offerings.

Adobe’s India operations, established in 1997 as an engineering R&D centre, have evolved into a strategic hub encompassing product engineering, design, sales and customer experience. With over 8,000 employees across four campuses, India represents Adobe’s second-largest workforce globally and contributes over a third of its innovation agenda.

The appointment of Basu underscores Adobe’s intent to strengthen its leadership bench in India while accelerating product innovation and reinforcing its positioning in AI-led creative technologies.
