Warner Music India has announced an exclusive global distribution agreement with Indian music label Ultra Music. The partnership gives Warner Music India distribution rights to Ultra Music’s catalogue of more than 14,000 tracks, spanning Hindi film soundtracks and a significant collection of regional, folk and devotional music. The deal also includes exclusive rights to distribute Ultra Music’s future releases for the duration of the agreement.
Through this arrangement, Warner Music India will use its international distribution network to amplify Ultra Music’s extensive catalogue across digital platforms worldwide. The partnership aims to widen global access to Indian music, leveraging Ultra Music’s depth of content alongside Warner Music’s reach and capability in global music distribution.
Ultra Music chief executive Sushilkumar Agrawal says the collaboration strengthens the label’s distribution strategy and overall reach. He notes that combining Warner Music’s industry network with Ultra Music’s library will enhance the availability of Indian music across platforms, reinforcing the label’s commitment to delivering quality content to listeners.
Jay Mehta, managing director of Warner Music India & SAARC, highlights the scale and diversity of Ultra Music’s catalogue, describing it as one of the country’s most significant. He states that the partnership allows Warner Music India to take both iconic and upcoming Ultra releases to wider audiences, boosting its own Hindi film and regional repertoire in the process. Mehta adds that the initiative will help introduce classic and contemporary Indian music to global listeners, strengthening the presence of Bollywood and regional genres internationally.
The collaboration reflects a broader industry trend in which Indian labels are partnering with global distributors to reach new markets. Warner Music India’s strategic investment in local catalogues positions the company to play a larger role in expanding the global footprint of Indian music.
