Talkwalker’s Battle of the Brands: One Plus Vs Xiaomi - Part 2

Talkwalker, a social media analytics company, based in Luxembourg, takes a closer look at the buzz, using their platform. 

Hashtags: The hashtags used for both brands tell us a story – a story of which phones and products are popular. Xiaomi’s Redmi seems to be the most popular product from their stable. For OnePlus, the major buzz is around the OnePlus 7, everyone seems to be eagerly waiting for the new release. Xiaomi also seems to have had some traction because it was their 9-year anniversary last month.  

Demographics: Both players seem to have very similar demographic profiles. Most men seem to be the target audience for both brands. 85.4% of men are talking about Xiaomi and 85.2% are talking about OnePlus! 58.8% of people in the age group 25-34 are talking about Xiaomi and 57.5% are talking about OnePlus. 

Both brands seem to have figured out a way to touch their audience – young people. Now it remains to be seen who’s going to win – so far it looks like Xiaomi is leading, but with the launch of OnePlus 7, the entire game could change!
