IPL: Road Block ahead

IPL’s cup of woes runneth over. After security concerns being voiced over the impending cricket series and the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India ) on Saturday, terminating the contract with Multi Screen Media (formerly Sony) over the telecast rights, it is a wait and watch situation over the fate of the series scheduled to begin from April 10. On Monday, Sony asked for a court injunction on BCCI’s decision to award the telecast rights to WSG Mauritius, who they claimed was paying a higher price than what Sony had signed up for the series.

On Monday, Sony asked for a court injunction on BCCI’s decision to award the telecast rights to WSG Mauritius, who they claimed was paying a higher price than what Sony had signed up for the series. BCCI has alleged a breach of contract on various counts by Multi Screen Media, as the cause behind the termination of the contract.

On Monday, the Bombay High Court stated that the board was not permitted to grant any approval to WSG Mauritius until the matter was resolved.
