INS issues notice to publications about election-related advertising

States that members should accept advertisements only after receiving advance payments

INS issues notice to publications about election-related advertising
The Indian Newspaper Society has issued a circular for its members ahead of the upcoming State Elections next year.

The circular states that member publications weren't able to recover substantial amounts from agencies during the last elections. According to the note, the major reason for this was that advertisers didn't pay the agencies for their work.

So, in order to safeguard against such contingencies arising once again, in the context of the forthcoming elections, the INS advised that members may accept advertisements relating to election campaigns only on the receipt of payments on advance basis.
