Genesis Burson-Marsteller brings in Judith Ostronic as CMO

Genesis Burson-Marsteller has appointed Judith Ostronic as chief marketing officer. In her new role, Ostronic will work closely with Genesis Burson-Marsteller’s Asia affiliates to develop and incorporate targeted new business strategies. She will be based in Gurgaon and will report to Prema Sagar, founder and principal of Genesis Burson-Marsteller.

Ostronic was previously vice president at Direct Impact, a grassroots communications firm based in Washington, DC (Direct Impact is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Burson-Marsteller and is a member of WPP). Prior to that, she represented Northeast Utilities System in Washington, DC, tracking federal energy policies and also served as director of legislative affairs for the American International Automobile Dealers Association in Alexandria, Virginia.

“We are delighted Judith has joined our team in Asia-Pacific and will be helping us to further develop our brand in one of Asia’s fastest growing markets,” stated Bob Pickard, chief executive officer of Burson-Marsteller Asia Pacific.

“We are very pleased to welcome Judith to India. Her experience in working across multiple practices and geographies in the areas of both new business development and client services will add great value to Genesis Burson-Marsteller as our diverse client base continues to expand,” said Sagar.

“I am excited to take on this role when so many new companies are looking to establish and grow their presence in India,” said Ostronic. “With offices strategically located across the country and a strong talent base to support the work, Genesis Burson-Marsteller is uniquely qualified to meet the evolving communications needs of India’s business community as it extends beyond the major hubs and into local markets.”

The role of chief marketing officer at Genesis Burson-Marsteller was earlier handled by Bhuvnesh Chawla; the position has been vacant since April 2011.
