Instagram has rolled out a campaign titled ‘you decide’ to spread awareness and encourage users to avail the safety tools on the app for a fairer experience.
Conceptualised by Supari Studios, the films highlight the array of safety features on Instagram and aim to empower young people on Instagram, to have a positive online experience. The 15-second films showcase the online tools that protect user privacy and mental wellbeing.
The film, ‘Two-Factor Authentication’ shows how a user can have private access to their account through a password and OTP code. The second film (shown above), ‘Hidden Words’, showcases how a user can disable comments from their Instagram posts that are a burden to their mental health. The third film, ‘Private Profile’, depicts how a user can have access to a private account and be able to express themselves to only those followers they admit to their profile. The fourth film, ‘Restrict’, shows how users can restrict a profile they wish to, giving them ownership over who views their profile and who they want to see on their timeline or stories.
Natasha Jog, head of public policy, Instagram, Facebook India (Meta), said, “We want the time spent on Instagram to be meaningful and intentional, and that’s the premise behind this campaign. While we iterate to make our platform safer, campaigns like these will drive awareness for them. We’re thankful for the partnership with Ananya Panday, Sushant Divgikar and other creators and communities, who are supporting to drive this message across India.”
The campaign will be amplified through a live room discussion between actor Ananya Panday, Sushant Divgikar and Natasha Jog on Instagram hosted by @under25official on 14 March.
