Year-ender 2021: 'We have done magnificently well to bounce back as an industry' – Rana Barua

Campaign India is ending the year by asking industry leaders about what this year taught them and an outrageous prediction for 2022.

Here's what Rana Barua, group CEO, Havas Group India, had to say:

Your stand-out moment or leaning from 2021?

I think after the shock and utter chaos in the first half of the year, we have done magnificently well to bounce back as an industry. I admire the way we have managed to rally around our people, work closely with our clients, go about managing expectations and ensure it has been business as usual under extremely challenging circumstances. We have come out as tougher people, and the learnings will stay with us forever.

An outrageous prediction for 2022?

Manchester United will become Premier League champions! That is truly outrageous. On a more serious note – we will be back to life that will resemble pre-2020. What we have now are an emergency adjustment and a necessary survival mode. We need to regain our physical meetings, start travelling, have our award shows, mingle with the fraternity, spend more time in the office, catch up on many plans that are on hold. That is how we know our life and it is time to reclaim it.
