Vijay Sankaran, digital strategy director at Urja Communications has moved to Nokia Siemens Networks, in the newly created role of head of social media.Vijay will be based in Mumbai.  Nokia Siemens is a one of the largest telecom hardware, software and professional services companies in the world, operating in 150 countries.

Confirming the move to Campaign India,  Vijay said, “Over the last few years, my interest was drawn towards the challenges inside a marketer organization on how to adapt to the demands of the social revolution. It is a global role that requires me to lead the planning and execution of Nokia-Siemens’ global & region specific social media strategies. In terms of my mandate, it is both an inward as well as outward facing role; it will involve creating a social media template within the organization that will focus on engaging with the vast community of Nokia Siemens’ stakeholders including opinion leaders, analysts, telecom operators and other influencers.“

In his new role, Vijay directly reports to Ben Roome, head of media relations, who is based in London. Previous to his role as digital strategy director  at Urja communications, Vijay was a creative director there.
