Uday Shankar appointed chairman, FICCI Media and Entertainment Committee

The position was previously held by Yash Chopra. Man Jit Singh will replace Shankar as chairman of FICCI’s Broadcast Forum.

Uday Shankar appointed chairman, FICCI Media and Entertainment Committee

Uday Shankar, chief executive officer, Star India, has been appointed chairman of  FICCI’s Media & Entertainment Committee that reviews, recommends and shapes policy framework.

The position was previously held by filmmaker Yash Chopra and had remained vacant after his demise in October 2012.

Shankar will be supported by two co-chairs - filmmakers Ramesh Sippy and Karan Johar.

Until now, Shankar steered FICCI’s Broadcast Forum as its chairman, engaging Telecom Regulatory Authority of India and the Information and Broadcasting Ministry. Man Jit Singh, chief executive officer, MSM, will replace Shankar as the new chairman of the Broadcast Forum.

On the development, Shankar said, “We would work with all industry stakeholders closely to formulate an agenda for sustained growth of the burgeoning entertainment sector and hold regular and meaningful dialogues with policy makers.”
