Rajesh Kamat moves out of Viacom18 Group

 

Rajesh Kamat, chief operating officer, Viacom18 Group and chief executive officer, COLORS has decided to move out of the group. He will be joining the Chernin Group’s CA Media, as chief executive officer for India.

Speaking about the development, Haresh Chawla, group chief executive officer, Viacom18 said, “Rajesh has played a significant part in extending and establishing Viacom18’s strong footprint in the GEC category. As he now moves on to a new challenge in a new role and domain, I wish him luck for his continued success.”

Kamat has been with Viacom18 for over three years now and was instrumental in launching COLORS. Apart from COLORS, Kamat is also credited with identifying newer growth and opportunity areas for the Group and helped in setting up Sun18.

While all the COLORS’ functions will now directly report into Chawla, Kamat will continue to be with Viacom18 till June, to ensure seamless transition. Talking about his decision Kamat said, “My assignment with Viacom18 has been one of my most challenging as well as gratifying periods of my professional career. With a team of extremely talented people and great management, we’ve created a brand (COLORS) that I am going to be proud of, forever.”

“Indian media and entertainment domain is bustling with developments that portend exciting future and my next assignment with CA Media will give me the opportunity to create a blueprint for leveraging and monetizing such opportunities,” he added.
