Edelman India has announced the appointment of Jaskirat Singh Bawa as senior advisor, risk and issues management, strengthening its crisis and risk offering in the Indian market. The move reflects the firm’s focus on supporting organisations as they navigate an increasingly complex environment shaped by continuous crises, reputational threats and the rapid spread of disinformation.

The appointment comes at a time when organisations are facing heightened scrutiny across digital and traditional channels, with risks emerging quickly and often simultaneously across markets. Edelman’s approach to risk and crisis management combines data-led insights, multidisciplinary expertise and a deep understanding of stakeholder behaviour. This integrated model is designed to help clients anticipate potential issues, manage uncertainty and protect trust before, during and after a crisis.

Edelman’s risk and crisis capabilities are underpinned by an established data and intelligence infrastructure. This enables early identification of emerging signals, real-time assessment of potential impact and informed response planning. Through these capabilities, organisations are supported in mapping stakeholder sentiment, identifying vulnerabilities and developing evidence-based strategies grounded in timely insights.

Bhavna Jagtiani, CEO of Edelman India, said the appointment reflects the evolving nature of reputational risk and the need for specialised expertise. “As the nature of reputational risk evolves, we are deepening our expertise to help clients anticipate and navigate emerging challenges. Jaskirat’s experience in misinformation and trust and safety will further strengthen our ability to guide organisations through today’s complex risk landscape,” she said.

Bawa brings close to two decades of experience across global news media, online trust and safety, and narrative and risk analysis. His career includes leading multi-market operations focused on disinformation and reputation risk for major technology platforms. He is recognised for building teams and developing tools aimed at strengthening information integrity and public trust across digital ecosystems.

Before joining Edelman, Bawa worked as a senior editor and correspondent with digital and broadcast news organisations, including India Today and The Quint. His background spans journalism, platform safety and strategic advisory, offering a perspective that bridges media, technology and reputation management.

Commenting on his appointment, Bawa said, “I am excited to join Edelman at a time when information integrity and managing reputational risk through trust and preparedness have never been more critical. Organisations face increasingly complex online threats like disinformation, which is now as critical as cyber security, and I look forward to helping clients anticipate and navigate these evolving challenges.”

Edelman’s crisis and risk teams work with organisations to build long-term resilience through integrated solutions. These range from crisis preparedness and simulation planning to predictive analytics, disinformation protection and stakeholder engagement. The objective is to help clients mitigate potential risks while strengthening credibility and trust with key audiences.

With the addition of Bawa, Edelman India aims to further enhance its advisory support for organisations operating in a volatile information environment. The appointment signals continued investment in specialist capabilities aligned to global best practices, as reputational risk, misinformation and stakeholder trust become central considerations for leaders across sectors.
