Narayan Devanathan, currently head of strategy at Euro RSCG’s Delhi office, has been promoted to the position of Chief Strategy Officer. The planner has previously worked with Ogilvy & Mather and agencies in the US. Speaking about his new designation, Devanathan said, “There are a couple of things I’m looking forward to. The first is collaboration, both within the agency between creative, account management, planning and the client so we can get a creative and effective product out, and also across the industry; I don’t think agencies talk all that much to each other.” The second priority is getting good work out on existing brands. “To paraphrase from Sourav Ganguly, we need 'brave cricket' in advertising as well. We should be willing to stand up to clients and make them believe in a good creative business idea as much as we do,” he said.

Suman Srivastava, chief executive officer of Euro RSCG India, added, “The role of chief strategy officer is one that is very close to my heart, as I’ve done it for a decade for the agency long before I came CEO. It’s something that needed more focus, and Narayan is a really good planner.” According to Srivastava, Devanathan’s mandate will be to build thought leadership pieces across categories while continuing his work on brands like Max New York Life, Reckitt Benckiser and Inq.
