Homegrown internet browser Veera launched
Veera, a homegrown internet browser has been launched.

Currently in beta stage, the website aims to revolutionise the mobile internet experience for India, tailor content and provide ad-blocking services.

It will also have an integrated live tracker, showcasing the real-time count of thwarted ads and trackers, alongside a tangible representation of data saved. Furthermore, it will block third-party trackers, ads, autoplay videos and more, by default.

The browser is the brainchild of Arjun Ghose, previously an investor with VC firm Falcon Edge and Alpha Wave, along with Rahul Pagdipati, chairman of the board, Zebpay and a board member at Brave browser.

Veera is also backed by Aditya Julka, a serial entrepreneur and founder of Paddle8, who also serves as an entrepreneur-in-residence at Harvard Business School. Additionally, Kanu Gupta, who played a pivotal role in the founding leadership of Goldman Sachs in India and is a seasoned investor, is also part of the founding team.

Other blue-chip investors for the browser are Ayon Capital, COG Network, 6th Man Ventures, Folius Ventures, and iSeed Ventures.

Vera also has angel investors, including Aalap Mahadevia from Briarwood Capital, Kabir Narang of B-Capital, Nikhil Mohta associated with Carlyle and ICICI Ventures, Kevin Hu of Brevam Howard, Saneel Srini of Moralis Capital, Ashwin Ramachandran, Viram Shah of Vested, and Dr. Devaiah Pagidipati.

Arjun Ghose, founder, Veera, "Our mission was to craft a faster, safer, and private browsing sanctuary for Indian internet users. We embarked on this journey to build an internet experience that resonates with India's uniqueness. With the average user spending approximately 7.3 hours per day online Veera's impact as the window to the internet for a billion Indians is undeniably significant. But, let me assure you this is just the beginning; there are a whole bunch of features in the pipeline that we are super excited about and will launch shortly."
