Channels opt for music videos to create buzz for upcoming shows

Hindi GEC Colors has launched a promotional music video for its reality show – ‘Vodafone presents Bigg Boss 4’. The video features new host Salman Khan.

In keeping with the trend, STAR Plus has released a promotional video, this one without any lyrics, for Akshay Kumar’s innings on the culinary talent show ‘MasterChef’.

Ashvini Yardi, head of programming, Colors, said the video was to sustain the buzz about the upcoming season. "Keeping in mind our promise of giving viewers 'andar majaa aur baahar majedaar', we have released a series of entertaining promos and are releasing a music video for the first time," she added.

Speaking about this initiative, Rajesh Iyer, director- marketing, Colors, said, “Vodafone presents Bigg Boss 4 with Salman Khan as the host is amongst the most awaited shows this year on Indian television. Our marketing efforts around the show reflect the same kind of enthusiasm and innovation to further build curiosity around the show.”

Anupam Vasudev, executive vice president, marketing & communication, STAR India Pvt Ltd, said, “Star Plus has always been a platform for megastars. Akshay Kumar is a reigning superstar and somebody who embodies the passion and the art of cooking which is the core of the show. He began his career with cooking. There couldn’t have been a more appropriate option than Akshay Kumar for this show.” He added, “A music video helps in building recall value and also forms one more tool of product communication apart from advertising.”
