Volkswagen fuels up on legacy, introduces ‘fun, new’ Beetle

Watch the ad film conceptualised by DDB Mudra West here

Volkswagen has rolled out an ad for Beetle conceptualised by DDB Mudra West.

The film begins with a grey Beetle. A rap-like narration brings to attention the car’s unique contours and place in history. It talks about the car in the time of flowery shirts, bell bottoms, mini-skirts, peace loving rebels, compulsive flirts; a nod to the ‘60s. The video shows fans trying to recreate the famous Beatles album cover, which sports a Beetle in the background. The film also takes viewers through ‘sober’ colored Beetles, ones with psychedelic colors, table-top miniature versions, the ones handed down from father to sons, the ones that saw some big screen time, or ‘just the yellow one’. The film progresses to reveal what the 21st century Beetle looks like, as it glides down the road. A ‘Bookings Open’ text greets viewers before the film ends with a super reading, “Think Fun. Think New.
