Vodafone launched a film for International Women’s Day promoting its Business Services. The film follows the theme of the brand’s ‘Ready Business’ campaign, showcasing success stories of SME owners who have used its services. This film, conceptualised by Ogilvy & Mather, features a female business owner.
A middle-aged woman gets dressed to step out for work. As she walks through the streets of Kolkata, the story unfolds in her voice. She recounts the advice given by elders, telling her that there will be hurdles along the way, yet urging her not to stop. This is the theme of the film, ‘Ruki nahin’ (I did not stop). She notes that she could have stopped when her father asked her to take care of the family business. After all, what did a woman have to do with stock-broking, she ponders. She reflects that girls stop at many stages in life – some stop with their mother’s womb, some at the school gate. And yet she went to the stock exchange, a male bastion, which did not even have a rest room for women.
She says that she did not stop, though she could have. She is proud to have been born as Aditi, and not Aditya. The protagonist is introduced as Aditi Nundy, director of Dayco India. She runs a multi-crore stock broking company, enabled by Vodafone’s 24x7 connectivity. The brand’s ‘Ready Business’ pitch follows.
