Yahoo! India announces judges for Uncannies

Yahoo! India has announced the panel of judges for Uncannies.com, the online portal created to reward the most creative work in advertising. It has also extended the deadline to submit entries to 15th March 2009.

As reported earlier, Yahoo! had launched the website in January.

The judges on the panel include Cyrus Oshidar, creative head – BBC, Pushpendra Misra from Flying Saucer Films, Malvika Mehra, group creative director – Ogilvy & Mather Advertising and Karl Gomes, national creative director, Digital Rediffusion Y&R.

Mehra commented, “Yahoo! has always been associated with great ideas. Uncannies is a platform to showcase creative talent as well as Yahoo!’s faith in great ideas. I personally think it's a grand gesture for a corporate to applaud talent, akin to a 'Corporate social responsibility' campaign in a way. By sending the winners to Cannes, Yahoo! has truly demonstrated that they believe in putting their money where their mouth is. This initiative truly celebrates great ideas.”

Gomes added, “We are at a time where the consumer is consuming content at his own terms and therefore we need a lot of fresh talent with newer, better and more engaging ideas. The need of the hour is fresh ideas and perspectives, thinking for brands and their marketing objective. Uncannies will be a great way to groom potential and existing talent by offering an excellent platform.”
