In his new capacity, Gupte will continue to be responsible for the verticals - Ogilvy Outreach and Ogilvy Live while Rahul Saigal, vice-president, Ogilvy Action will continue to manage the Ogilvy Retail.

Confirming the developments to Campaign India, Sanjay Thapar, president - North and East, Ogilvy & Mather, said, “Samir has done a wonderful job as the Country Head for the verticals, and with his experience in the experiential marketing space over the past few years, we are confident that he will be able to align both the rural and urban activation divisions.”

On the game plan ahead for the verticals, Samir Gupte, president, Ogilvy Action, said, “The idea is to strengthen the experiential marketing arm of Ogilvy Action. We wanted to use the skills available in urban and rural  activations and bring them onboard, and to my mind I have four key points that I plan to drive with. One is strong consumer insight, second is marrying it with the brand objective with engagement programs, followed by providing scalable solutions for the activities and finally measurement of the activation programs.”

Gupte started his advertising career in 1994 with (Trikaya) Grey, and followed it up with his first stint with Ogilvy for three years working on Unilever brands. He spent his next four years at Mudra Bangalore and Mumbai working on brands like Madura Garments, Compaq Digital and Reliance Infocomm. Moving on from a client servicing role to brand activation in 2003, he has spent the last seven years with Ogilvy Action.
