Radio City to impart radio education

Radio City 91.1FM has launched Radio City School of Broadcasting (RCSB) which will offer a six month certificate course in radio jockeying and radio production. The unit is instituted by Music Broadcast Private Limited (MBPL) which owns and operates Radio City.

Radio City 91.1FM has launched Radio City School of Broadcasting (RCSB) which will offer a six month certificate course in radio jockeying and radio production. The unit is instituted by Music Broadcast Private Limited (MBPL) which owns and operates Radio City. 
The course comprises three months class room training followed by a three-month internship at Radio City. The training includes introduction to key elements of a radio station, insights on various functions at a radio station followed by the three month internship across departments like programming, national creative and content integration. The course also includes papers like radio production, radio jockeying, music management, sound technology and programming. 
The school will first start in Mumbai and will then be rolled out in cities like Hyderabad, Lucknow and Bangalore. There will be tie-up with other media institutes after couple of batches.
Apurva Purohit, CEO, Radio City 91.1FM and chairperson, RCSB said, “Backed by the expertise of Radio City 91.1FM, RCSB aims to provide students a ‘real time real world’ radio experience. Involvement of the Radio City leadership team and senior management as faculty will ensure that students are mentored through a truly robust radio training programme.” 
Sagorika Kantharia, head – HR, Radio City 91.1FM and dean, RCSB said, “In addition to theoretical knowledge of various facets of radio management, our certificate course focuses on providing students the practical experience of working at a radio station. The course content designed by a dedicated, in-house team of radio professionals will be refreshed periodically keeping in line with the industry dynamism. This ensures that students are exposed to a relevantly holistic learning of the Indian radio business and are ready to deliver from day one on the job!”
