Must watch on TV: Lots of football and cricket coming your way

Its weekend time. To double your fun, its weekend time during the festive season. To triple your fun, its weekend time, during the festive season, with loads of sporting action.

To start the weekend, there’s a full round of Barclays Premier League Football coming your way. The first game of the weekend has a lot of Indian interest around it, as league-leaders and current champions, Chelsea travel to Ewood Park to play Blackburn, who are in the process of being bought over by Venky’s. This game begins at 19:25 hours and will be Live on ESPN. The in-form Gunners entertain fellow Londoners, West Ham at the Emirates at the same time on STAR Sports. In the late kickoff, Manchester United will entertain Tottenham Hotspurs, who will be looking to put aside their dreadful record at Old Trafford (they haven’t won there for 21 years) with a victory over United. This game starts at 21:55 hours and will be Live on ESPN.

On Sunday, its derby time in the Premier League. In the first of two derby games, Aston Villa host Birmingham at 17:25 hours on STAR Sports. The second one features Newcastle with city neighbours Sunderland making the short trip to St. James’ Park. Catch this on ESPN, Live from 18:55 hours onwards. In the last game of the weekend, Liverpool will look to build on their victory last weekend and put their slow start behind them with a win over Bolton. Kickoff for this one is at 21:25 hours, Live on ESPN.

Further, there’s cricket action coming your way. Sri Lanka have made the trip down under, and their tour starts with a T20 game at Perth on Sunday. The game starts at 15:00 hours on STAR Cricket.

There’s more cricket action, with the two ODIs between Pakistan and South Africa being played over the weekend. The first ODI starts later today and the second one will be played on Sunday from 16:30 hours, Live on TEN Cricket.

Along with this tune into TEN Action for football from the Spanish Primera Liga featuring Barcelona, Real Madrid and Valencia from 21:25 hours onwards on Saturday night.
