Former Dentsu Comms CEO Arijit Ray announces new outfit Paperboat
Former Dentsu Communications CEO Arijit Ray has announced the launch of his creative agency Paperboat Brandworks, in partnership with former RK Swamy BBDO creatives Arindam Sengupta and Raju Gondhlekar.

Ray, who moved into a new business development role for Dentsu India Group in January 2014, exited the agency in July the same year. The new venture was launched in early 2015.

Paperboat Brandworks is based in Mumbai and claims to have signed on several clients, including one outside India. Without naming clients or revealing the current headcount, Ray said, “We will look at expansion in year two. This is the year of focus on building the body of work. But definitely geography will not hinder us. We already have a client outside India.”

“Our key mandates are retainer relationships,” he added.

A statement on the launch issued on 24 September 2015 quoted Ray as saying: “Marketing to the fragmented and digitally immersed consumer is getting complex.  Which is where our collective advertising and communication sense will kick in.  We are looking forward to tapping into our experience to building creative brand solutions that are rooted, relevant and simple. Evocative and effective at the same time. The body of work we have built so far is varied, exciting, fresh and most importantly integrated through-the-line. A skill set that clients are seeking more and more.”
