BARC India revives ratings for individual news channels

Resumes week 10 ratings with augmented data reporting benchmarks

BARC India revives ratings for individual news channels
BARC India has resumed ratings for individual news channels after a 17-month long hiatus.

The data for week 10 for news and special interest channels has been released on Thursday, 17 March 2022.

As per industry standards consultations and suggestions, BARC's team and BARC TechComm developed 'Augmented Data Reporting Standards' for news and special interest genres.

With these modified approved criteria, audience estimates for these two specific genres will only be released based on a four-week rolling average every week.

Due to the industry's need for past data during the shutdown of news ratings, BARC India will also release data for the previous 13 weeks, i.e., for the period of week 49, 2021 to week 9, 2022, only for the channels that have not chosen to opt-out from receiving this data.

Furthermore, this past data will be based on a four-week rolling average. This data will be released over the next three working days.
