Perk Double energises couple - to tie the knot on the run

Cadbury India has released a TVC for its brand Perk Double. The TVC created by Ogilvy & Mather went on air on 26 July.

The film shows a young boy and girl seated at an outdoor cafe. The girl is upset that her father (too) is opposing their relationship. Her boyfriend breaks a bar of Double Perk and offers her one half. He tries comforting her, saying her dad and mom would come around. After taking a bite, she suggests that they elope and get married.

The next scene shows them dressed in wedding outfits, running on the road. They are handed over accessories like a turban and dupatta by two men cycling alongside. Soon they are joined by a priest in a scooter’s side car reciting holy chants, with a havan / homam (sacred fire) burning on a stand. Family and friends now become part of the celebration, offering their wishes from their cars. A wedding band follows them on the road, while a videographer films the occasion from a motorcycle. The couple then perform Hindu wedding rituals including circling the sacred fire while continuing to run, even as a passerby in a truck looks on with wonderment. The priest declares the ceremony complete while the wedding party continues to run, into the sunset. A voice over signs off saying, “Ab do do Perk ki energy ek sath. Naya Cadbury Perk Double.” (Now, the energy of two Perks in one. New Cadbury Perk Double.)

On the film, Abhijit Avasthi, national creative director, Ogilvy & Mather, said, “This commercial represents Perk consumers' way of having fun in their lives. The more energy you have, greater the fun."
