Vamsi Vanka joins MEC as head, Interaction

Vamsi Vanka has been brought on board at Mediaedge:cia (MEC) as national director, MEC Interaction, the agency's digital arm. Vanka's appointment is effective from November 26, 2008. He comes in from EBS Interactive.

Vamsi Vanka has been brought on board at Mediaedge:cia (MEC) as national director, MEC Interaction, the agency's digital arm. Vanka's appointment is effective from November 26, 2008. He comes in from EBS Interactive. 
 
Besides business development, Vanka (pictured) will be responsible for delivering digital strategy to MEC's clients and will report to T Gangadhar, managing director, MEC India. On his new role, Vanka said, "My mandate will be to lead the interactive space at MEC. It will be similar to my role at Starcom IP two years ago but with the current economic slowdown, the digital space, I believe, is set to command far more of marketers' spends than before."
 
Commenting on the development, Gangadhar said, "We are delighted to have Vamsi on board. Given the rapidly changing business and consumer landscape, MEC Interaction will play an even more important role in driving MEC's strategic philosophy- Active Engagement. MEC Interaction is fully committed to delivering high quality thought-leadership in the digital space and Vamsi's rich experience will be handy."
 
Interaction's services include digital strategy, website design, e-commerce consulting, email and mobile campaign management and reporting and analytics. Vanka began his career in Zee Telefilms as executive assistant to the MD and was part of the team that launched Zeenext.com. Since then he has worked entirely in the digital space, with stints at Mediaturf (now Ignitee India), Tribal DDB India, Starcom IP and EBS Interactive.
