One Club to launch award show on branded entertainment

Ad Industry creatives can now add Gold, Silver and Bronze Pencils to the list of entertainment industry awards. The one Club has announced “The First Annual One Show Entertainment Awards” which will recognize outstanding creative achievements by brands in the realm of entertainment. The event is set to take place in Los Angeles on Tuesday evening, October 7, 2008. Produced by The One Club, One Show Entertainment pays tribute to creative branding beyond mere product placement.  Entries will be judged by a panel of marketing and entertainment experts including director Brett Ratner (who directed “X-Men: The Last Stand”), BBDO North America’s David Lubars, Radical media’s Jon Kamen, David Droga and Scott Donaton (publisher of Entertainment Weekly).

“Media is rapidly evolving and, with the development of new technologies, traditional ads in print, television and radio have had to make room for a new form of brand messaging,” said Mary Warlick, CEO, The One Club.  “New brands are seeking to collaborate with the creators of movies, shows, games and web-based videos to support and, in some appropriate way, become part of the entertainment.  This fall we look forward to celebrating the very best examples in this new kind of collaboration.”

Warlick cited BMW’s internet film series “The Hire” starring Clive Owen and produced by  filmmakers including David Fincher, Ridley and Tony Scott; “Sex and the City,” with Carrie Bradshaw’s passion for Manolo Blahnik shoes; and King Games for Burger King, as memorable examples of past historically significant depictions of branded entertainment.

Media categories for The One Show Entertainment Awards include Feature Film, commercial and documentaries; Television, both scripted and unscripted series; Gaming, online gaming and off line gaming; Online Branded Entertainment; Music and Events and Installations.

Entry forms and information on details of the competition are available at www.oneshowentertainment.org and the deadline for submission of entry forms is August 15, 2008.  A showcase of some of the outstanding work in branded entertainment is available at www.oneshowentertainment.org/showcase.
