Ford and Autocar come together for #SheDrives in Delhi/NCR

The second edition of the #SheDrives event was held in Delhi/NCR on 30,31 March March. The event, that was organised by Autocar India and supported by Ford featured 120 women going all out a custom-built rally track under the supervision of rally driver, Gaurav Gill.

The schedule included Gaurav Gill getting each of the participants acquainted with the circuit via a sighting lap followed by a hot lap. During the laps, Gaurav Gill used his time with the participants to explain some of the key pro-driving techniques. The ladies were then encouraged to have a go in the Ford Freestyle, with each of them timed for their first attempt.

The participants included corporate executives and homemakers.

According to Gill, the time spent on the circuit was not just about fun. “The new insights into driving techniques will also help the participants become better and safer drivers on the road, and that’s a wonderful thing,” he said.

Renuka Kripalani, editor, Autocar India show, said, “The girls were fantastic and really clued in. They were especially happy for the creation of such a platform.”

Anurag Mehrotra, president and MD, Ford India, said, “Fun-to-drive is at the core of every Ford car and we are proud to bring it alive with #SheDrives. Thanks to Freestyle’s UV and safety credentials, women buyers make up for almost 25% of its sales. With #SheDrives, we are not just expressing gratitude to our customers, but also celebrating women at large who prefer safety and fun-of-driving over everything else.”
