Indian hockey team captain Bharat Chetri features in Seagram's Royal Stag's campaign for the London Olympics along with three former Olympic hockey Gold-winning players: Leslie Claudius (1948, ’52 and ’56), Keshav Dutt ('48) and Jaswant Singh Rajput ('48).
The TVC created by Gameplan Sports shows pictures from the celebrations of the first Gold medal India won in hockey after independence ('48). The team triumphed after beating Great Britain. It then cuts 64 years later, to the present, and shows Dutt, Claudius and Rajput motivating the current captain Chetri, and getting an assurance from him on the team's performance at the London Olympic Games 2012.
Commenting on the film, Bikram Basu, vice president, marketing, Pernod Ricard India said, "The brief given to Gameplan Sports was to look at an opportunity to associate with a large sporting event bringing alive the 'Make it large' essence in an emotive and inspiring manner."
He added, “India has a golden heritage in hockey. We have living legends, but not the adulation and media focus for youngsters to relate to their achievements, and follow their path. These legends are our beacon, and hopefully the baton of success will pass firmly to the current team this London Olympics. We want to make it large”.
The film went on air on 5 July.
