Glimpses from Spikes Asia 2011 Awards Ceremony

WATCH what Sajan Raj Kurup, Bobby Pawar, Ravi Deshpande and Colvyn Harris had to say about how their agencies did

The awards for Spikes Asia 2011 were presented on 20 September 2011 at The Esplanade Theatre in Singapore.

Post the award ceremony, we managed to catch up with some of the award winners just outside the after-party sponsored by Leo Burnett.

Sajan Raj Kurup, founder and creative chairman, Creativeland Asia, termed his agency's win of the Media Grand Prix and Independent Agency Of The Year as "unbelievable". "We're really happy to be the first Indian agency to win Independent Agency Of The Year," he added.

On topping the table among Indian agencies, Josy Paul, chairman and chief creative officer, BBDO India said, "We are thrilled to hear that BBDO India is number one in India – with eight metals including a Gold, Silver and 17 shortlists. We were unable to attend the ceremony, but we are glad that our real work at the ashram for big brands is also moving the jury at Spikes Asia.

We thank our clients for their faith in 'acts, not ads'."

Bobby Pawar, chief creative officer, Mudra Group, said, "It's a great feeling to be number three for the Agency Of The Year award and to have contributed to DDB being Network Of The Year again. But the night will soon be done and tomorrow is a new day and a new year. You can't let the hangover hang over you for too long."

Ravi Deshpande, chairman and chief creative officer, Contract Advertising, said of the Gold win for the JK Tyres 'Soles with Souls' idea, "It was an idea that we truly believed in and the client also believed in, to the extent that they backed it with an enormous effort."

On the Gold win in Film, Colvyn Harris, chief executive officer, JWT India, said, "It feels good, because India hasn't had a very good year, so at least some of us got to go on stage."
