Interbrand’s global chief strategy officer relocates to China

Interbrand, the world’s leading brand consultancy, announced today that its Global Chief Strategy Officer, Leslie Butterfield, is relocating to Shanghai, China.

From his new base in Shanghai, Butterfield will continue in his role as Global Chief Strategy Officer, but he will partner closely with Stuart Green, Interbrand's CEO in the Asia-Pacific region. Green, who is based in Singapore, will work with Butterfield to apply Interbrand’s unique point-of-view on building brand value to meet the changing demands of the rapidly evolving Asian markets. They will also pursue new relationships with ambitious and progressive brands across the region.

“These are exciting times for brands and brand consultancies in China and Interbrand is increasing its decade-long investment in the region by relocating its most senior strategy executive to this fast-moving market,” said Jez Frampton, Interbrand’s Global CEO. “Leslie is a globally recognized leader in the industry and we are eager for him to apply his nearly 30 years of experience in building some of the world's biggest and best brands to the region.”

“Asia has always held a fascination for me,” said Butterfield. “I love the vibrancy and optimism of the region. This is a great opportunity for me to apply my skills, and my passion for the quality of our product, to a new set of brand challenges – in some of the most exciting markets in the world.”

Butterfield joined Interbrand as Global Chief Strategy Officer in November 2008. In his role as Global Chief Strategy Officer, he oversees the quality and development of Interbrand's strategic products and methodologies and, as Dean of the Interbrand Academy, he plays a leading role in the professional development of the firm’s greatest asset: its people.

Prior to joining Interbrand, Butterfield had a distinguished career in advertising, including 16 years as Planning Director and then Chairman of the agency he founded, Butterfield Day Devito Hockney. In 2007, he was awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the Queen's 2007 Birthday Honours List for services to the advertising industry.
