Agency networks

BBDO's seventh straight win is also its 10th in the 14 years of the Gunn Report. Rounding out the top 10 were DDB, Ogilvy & Mather, Leo Burnett, Y&R, Saatchi & Saatchi, Wieden+Kennedy, Publicis, JWT and McCann. Dentsu appears at 14 and Hakuhodo at 18.

Agencies

Wieden+Kennedy (New York and Portland) topped the most-awarded agency list. Asia-Pacific agencies appearing among the top 50 were as follows ("t" denotes a tie):

Hakuhodo (Tokyo) took the top spot on the list of most-awarded agencies in digital.

Print ads

Asia-Pacific agencies fared well in the most-awarded print ads category, appearing in four of the top five positions and seven out of the top 20:

  • 1 JWT Shanghai: 'Heaven & Hell' for Samsonite
  • 2 Ogilvy (Kuala Lumpur): 'Quick Draw Wins' for Pictionary
  • 3(t) Ogilvy & Mather (Shanghai): 'Cokehands' for Coca-Cola
  • 5(t) DDB Sydney: 'Park assist' for Volkswagen
  • 9(t) JWT Shanghai: ''Egypt/Rome' for Maxam
  • 19(t) DDB China Group (Shanghai): 'Keyboard of isolation' for Family Care for Grassroots Community
  • 20 DDB Group (Singapore): 'Terrain/Roadmap/Cityscape' for Life Cycle Bicycle

Digital

Projector (Tokyo) took the top spot in the most-awarded digital category with 'The Museum of Me' for Intel, followed by Hakuhodo in a tie for second with 'OK Go - All is not lost' for Google Chrome. Dentsu was the only other Asia-Pacific agency among the top 20, landing at 13 with 'Connecting lifelines' for Honda Internavi.

'All Gunns blazing

Clemenger BBDO Proximity (Melbourne) took second place in this category for multi-mode campaigns, with 'Break up' for National Australia Bank. Other Asia-Pacific showings in the top 20 were:

  • 6(t) Leo Burnett (Sydney): 'Watermark' for Bundaberg Rum
  • 6(t) Projector (Tokyo): 'The Museum of Me' for Intel
  • 12 Leo Burnett (Melbourne): 'BYO cup day' for 7-Eleven
  • 13 Hakuhodo Kettle (Tokyo): 'Memories for the future' for Google
  • 18 George Patterson Y&R (Melbourne): 'Mobile medic' for Australian Defence Force
  • 19 Cheil Worldwide (Seoul): 'Insight' for Samsung Camera

Countries

As usual, the US topped the list of most-awarded countries, with the UK coming in second. However, Australia vaulted from sixth last year to third, and Japan jumped from eighth to fourth. Other regional nations making the top 20 were India at 13, China at 14(t), Thailand at 16, and New Zealand at 17(t).

Film

Work by Asian agencies was shut out of the top 20 in the most-awarded film category. Agencies from the region appearing in the top 50 were:

  • 22 BMF (Sydney): 'Nocturnal migration' for Toohey's Extra Dry
  • 24 Dentsu Kyushu (Fukuoka): 'Pawnbrokers' for Zeniya Honten
  • 25 Publicis Mojo (Sydney): 'Super in super out' for Hahn Super Dry Beer
  • 36 Hakuhodo (Tokyo): 'OK Go, All is not lost' for Google Chrome
  • 37 ADK (Tokyo): 'Taxi' for Sunshine Sakae Store
  • 38 Clemenger BBDO (Melbourne): 'The moment' for BUPA
