NCPCR (The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights) has asked Mondelez India to withdraw misleading ads and labels for Bournvita.
According to various media reports, NCPCR has written to the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and the Central Consumer Protection Authority to take action against companies like Mondelez that don't comply with guidelines on food safety and advertising.
This follows a social media influencer Revant Himatsingka releasing a video in which he claimed that Bournvita contains extra sugar, cocoa solids and a cancer-causing colorant. Bournvita responded with a social media post to state how its safe to use and also issued a legal notice to Himatsingka.
According to the reports, NCPCR has asked Bournvita to respond to these allegations within a week.
