Times Network issues statement after arrest of Bhawana Kishore

The network is also seeking legal recourse

Times Network issues statement after arrest of Bhawana Kishore
Post the arrest of Times Now reporter Bhawana Kishore and cameraman Mrityunjay Kumar, Times Network has issued a statement.

According to the statement, Times Now Navbharat has been subjected to harassment and intimidation tactics since the newsbreak of 'Operation Sheesh Mahal’.

The operation uncovered the refurbished office of the Delhi CM, Arvind Kejriwal, which was reported by Kishore.

After being invited to an AAP hosted political program in Ludhiana, when on road, Kishore and her colleagues were allegedly arrested on grounds of rash driving and insulting Dalits.

The network rebuked all the accusations and stated that Kishore was illegally detained at an hour no woman can be arrested, by a male cop who didn’t have his badge on at the time of duty.

The statement also mentioned that post the reporter’s arrest, her family wasn’t informed, nor was she given any access to legal rights. Kishore was also made to sign documents against her will and in a language she doesn’t know.

The network labelled the scenario as a case of harassment and an intimidation to Times Now Navbharat to stop pursuing an uncomfortable story about the supreme leader of the party in power in the state.

The Chandigarh Press Club too, issued a statement in support of Kishore.

Kishore was released on bail on 7 May, but the network is seeking legal recourse.
