Campaign India's Bindu Nair Maitra chatted with Clay Shirky, author, web visionary and TED speaker at Cannes, about changes that may come about in the media in the future. Listen to Clay Shirky speak about paid content
A quiet start to Cannes Lions this year. A good number of adlanders were still getting in, and more are expected on Monday so that’s a better day to take stock. That there are more clients in Cannes this year is undeniable. What value they see in attending Cannes is a line of thought I shall chase mid-festival when I talk to some of them. So in an industry that loves superlatives, the first question is always likely to be - is it louder, noisier, and bigger than last year? Louder and noisier, yes. And the football fever isn’t helping matters.
Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG) and Microsoft will host TED@Cannes, the first industry sponsored Technology, Entertainment, Design (TED) event. This invite-only event will be held at the Microsoft Pavilion from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2010 during festival week. This is only the second installment of the “TED@” series. The first was TED@State in 2009 sponsored by The Global Partnership Initiative, a government program launched by U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton.
