Cannes 2013: McCann, Taproot, Grey and Ogilvy mine Gold; Press and Outdoor bring 23 metals

Indian agencies bagged 23 awards on day four of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2013. Awards in the Press, Design, Cyber and Radio competition were announced on 19 June.

McCann Worldgroup secured two Gold Lions in Press, while Taproot earned a Gold Lion each in the Press and Design categories.

While Grey Worldwide earned a Gold Press Lion, Ogilvy & Mather won a Gold Lion in the Design category.

Press Lions

In the Press Lions category, Indian agencies won four Gold, two Silver and five Bronze Lions.

McCann Worldgroup’s entries ‘William Shakespeare’, ‘Mark Twain’ and ‘Oscar Wilde’ for Penguin Group’s Audiobooks won Gold Lions in the ‘Publications and Media’ and ‘Art Direction’ sub-categories. View the entries below:

Taproot’s three-entry campaign – ‘Farmers Suicides- 1,2,3‘ for Times Of India won a Gold Lion in the ‘Fundraising and Appeals’ sub-category, while the same entry won a Silver Lion for ‘Art Direction’. The agency’s three entries ‘Push Ups With Claps,’ ‘Skate Board Shove It’ and ‘Back Flip’ for PepsiCo’s Gatorade in the ‘Non-Alcoholic Drinks’ sub-category won a Bronze Lion. View the entries below:

Grey Worldwide’s two-entry campaign ‘Positive and Negative’ (1 and 2) for Duracell Batteries which was shortlisted in the ‘Household: Other’ sub-category brought home the fourth Gold Press Lion for India.

In the same sub-category, Leo Burnett’s ‘School’ for P&G’s Tide Detergent Powder won a Silver Lion. View the entry below:

Ogilvy & Mather won three Bronze Lions in the Press category. Three entries titled ‘Forest’, ‘Alley’ and ‘Gorge’ for Philips Electronics’ ‘LED Torch’ campaign shortlisted in the ‘Home Appliances & Furnishings’ and ‘Art Direction’ sub-categories won a Bronze Lion each. The agency received its third Bronze  for entries ‘Train’, ‘Terrace’ and ‘Noose’ for ‘World for All’ in the ‘Fundraising and Appeals’ sub-category. View the entries below:

The lone shortlisted entry from DDB Mudra Group Entry ‘Fair’ for PE Electronics in the ‘Home Electronics and Audio-Visual’ sub-category won a Bronze Lion. View the entry below:

Design Lions

India brought home 12 Lions in the Design Lions category, including two Gold, two Silver and eight Bronzes.

Taproot India secured a Gold Lion for the entry ‘Farmer Suicides’ for The Times of India in the ‘Print and Poster’ sub-category.

Ogilvy & Mather’s entry ‘Daylight’ for Philips Electronics in the ‘Design Photography’ sub-category won a Gold Lion, while the agency’s entries ‘Alley’ and ‘Gorge’ in the ‘Posters’ sub-category for the same client won a Silver. Ogilvy won another Silver for the entry ‘Ogilvy Persian and Urdu’ in the ‘Self Promotion’ sub-category. The agency’s work for WWF India titled ‘Animal Trees’ in the ‘Posters’ sub-category and the entry ‘Save Calligraphy’ for Qalamkari Creative Calligraphy Trust in the ‘Advertising Typography’ sub-category also won Bronze Lions in Design. BBDO India’s entry ‘Stick It Art’ for Haiyya which were shortlisted in two sub-categories – ‘Flyers, Tickets, Invitations, Postcards, Christmas and Other Greeting cards’ and ‘Calendars, Flyers, Tickets, Invitations, Postcards, Christmas and other greeting cards’ won Bronze Lions. McCann World Group’s entries for Penguin Group’s Audiobooks ‘Author Headphones’ in the ‘Posters’ sub-category and ‘Oscar Wilde’ in the ‘Print and Poster ads’ sub-category earned the agency two Bronze Lions.

Leo Burnett India’s entry ‘Good Paper Project’ for Cotex Bio Farm Organic Fertiliser in the ‘Sustainable Packaging’ sub-category got the agency its Bronze Lion in Design. View the entry below:
