Star India has announced the launch of a new show featuring Aamir Khan which will be on air by early 2012. The show will be Aamir Khan's first venture in television and it will be produced by his production house, Aamir Khan Productions. However, the title of the show has not been disclosed as yet, it has been told, in a media briefing, that the show will be aired across the eight channels of Star India, namely, Star Plus, Star Jalsa, Star Pravah, Star Suvarna, Asianet, Star Vijay, Star Utsav, and Star World.

The channel claims that the show will be about change and hope. It intends to utilise the power of TV to touch lives. The exact format of the show hasn't been shared but it is going to be a non-fiction show involving real life stories.

Said Uday Shankar, chief executive officer, Star India, "When you become a leader in an industry, you need to be aware of the social responsibility that comes with the leadership, you need to set course for what the others ought to do, set the agenda for how television business should behave, and you need to make the industry receptive to the idea of innovation. This show will project how the society should perceive the whole industry and its calibre."

To this Aamir Khan added, "This show is going to be a personal journey for me. I had dreamy of doing it some three years ago when I had met Uday for the first time. I chose Star to do my TV debut because I felt it is the right platform, it has massive reach, stature and the right personality to pull of such a show."

On working with Khan, Shankar stated that he has never felt more challenged in his entire life put together but it has been an enriching experience.

Khan mentioned that while he reads a lot, he doesn't consume much of television. Even now that he is going to be a part of the medium, that hasn't changed. He said, "I have been acting in films for 22 years now but I don't really consume that many films. My consumption doesn't have any connection to what I'm doing in life."
