Effies ’09: O&M is Agency of the Year, by a mile

Ogilvy and Mather (O&M) was declared Agency of the Year at Advertising Club Bombay’s Effies 2009 awards last evening.The awards which honour effectiveness in advertising, saw O&M (pictured above) take home 15 trophies (3 golds, 5 silvers and 5 bronzes) to amass 120 points, leaving other agencies behind by a large margin.O&M's client Vodafone Essar was declared the Client of the Year.

Ogilvy and Mather (O&M) was declared Agency of the Year at Advertising Club Bombay’s Effies 2009 awards last evening.

The awards which honour effectiveness in advertising, saw O&M (pictured above) take home 15 trophies (3 golds, 5 silvers and 5 bronzes) to amass 120 points, leaving other agencies behind by a large margin.

O&M's client Vodafone Essar was declared the Client of the Year.

O&M’s campaigns for Vodafone’s Zoozoos contributed in a big way to the rich haul. The case study ‘Vodafone Zoozoos – The story of an iconic campaign’ won in several categories – a gold in Services, a gold in Integrated Advertising and a silver in Mobile Advertising. 

Besides this, it was also awarded Marico Uncommon Sense Award and the Brand Equity Bravery award, both for outstanding creative work in integrated advertising.
 
Apart from the Zoozoos, O&M's win came via several other campaigns such as Sprite (Seedhi Baat, No Bakwaas), Center Fresh, Limca, Pond’s, Bajaj Pulsar, Sakshi and Tata Sky+.
 
JWT’s stood second in the final tally, with the highlight being the case study ‘Teach India’ (The Times of India) which won the Grand Effie for Integrated Advertising and also the Yahoo Big Idea Chair award. The agency won a silver Effie for its ‘Aam Aadmi Ke Badhte Kadam’ campaign for the Indian National Congress.
 
Lowe Lintas stood third in the list and their ‘Jaago Re’ case study for Tata Tea brought them a gold Effie in Consumer Products category, amongst other wins for Idea Cellular, Havells and Axe.
 
Mudra occupied the fourth spot in the rankings, having won three silver Effies for Union Bank of India, Shell Foundation and Economic Times, all in the Corporate Advertising category.
 
1Rediffusion won four bronzes for Airtel and Kaya Skin Clinic, to occupy the fifth spot in the rankings.
