Cannes Lions names Cyber, Outdoor and Radio jury heads

Nick Law, Olivier Altmann and Eugene Cheong have been named as jury presidents for Cannes Lions 2011 in the Cyber, Outdoor and Radio categories respectively.

Speaking on the appointments, festival chairman Terry Savage said, "Nick, Eugene and Olivier come from very different parts of the world and, given the roles they have, work all over the world, so therefore understand many different cultures. Being great creatives, who are both culturally aware and real leaders, makes them perfect to fulfil the roles of presidents of these three important juries."

Nick Law is R/GA's EVP and chief creative officer for North America. He works closely with visual designers, copywriters and interaction designers  to oversee the creative output and ensure groundbreaking innovation at R/GA. Law has been recognised at every major international award show.

"It's an honour to be asked to chair the Cannes Lions Cyber Jury, an esteemed group that have witnessed and awarded our industry's relentless reinvention for 13 years," said Law.

"More recently, work in this category has defied categorisation and redefined what ambitious agencies can do for their clients. Along with audacious advertising work, agencies have been delivering digital products and services that do more than tell you about a brand - they transform brands," he added.

Outdoor Lions jury chair Olivier Altmann is the chief creative officer at Publicis Worldwide. Under Altmann's leadership, the network has been ranked as the second most creative network in both Europe and Asia and Agency of the Year in France, Australia and Brazil. With two Eurobest Grand Prix under his belt, Altmann has previously judged at Cannes Lions, D&AD and The Clio Awards.

"Despite being maybe the oldest media of all time, think back to the cavemen drawings, Outdoor remains one the most powerful ways to communicate to the masses as it is truly public," said Olivier.

Regional ECD at Ogilvy Asia-Pacific, Eugene Cheong is the most awarded copywriter and creative director in Asia. As the Radio Lions jury president in 2011, he himself has won more gold Cannes Lions and gold One Show Pencils than anyone else in Asia.

Cheong is one of the creatives behind the 'Asian Creative Revolution' which started at the Ogilvy Singapore agency in the mid 1980s, before spreading to Hong Kong, Thailand and India.

"It's a pleasure and certainly a privilege for me to be able to chair the Radio Lions jury. I look forward to leading and engaging with some of the industry's finest minds." remarked Eugene.

The 58th International Festival of Creativity, Cannes Lions 2011, takes place from 19 to 25 June at Cannes in France.
