Dinesh Swamy joins Proximity BBDO as creative leader

BBDO India has hired Dinesh Swamy as creative leader, Proximity BBDO, BBDO India’s CRM, digital and data arm. Swamy joins the agency from 28 November 2012.

His role will involve creating engaging experiences for online consumers through integrated digital campaigns, and finding new properties using websites, rich media, social media and mobile applications.

Swamy moves from Digital Law & Kenneth, where he was creative director. Prior to joining Law & Kenneth in March 2011, he spent four years at Tribal DDB India, where he was associate creative director.

Josy Paul, chairman and national creative director, BBDO India, said, "Dinesh is a digital native. Online is his oxygen and his chlorophyll. BBDO/Proximity will grow through this osmosis of idea, technology, and branded activism. It's 'acts not ads 2.0'."

Paul stated that Swamy would be working across all BBDO and Proximity BBDO India brands. Asked if the agency would name a replacement for Ranjeev Vij, former head of Proximity who left the unit in August 2012, Paul said announcements on Proximity BBDO India's new structure will be made ‘very soon’.

Swamy will be working with BBDO India's executive creative directors Raj Deepak Das (Mumbai)  and Sandipan Bhattacharyya (New Delhi) and will report to Paul.

Swamy has cumulatively spent 13 years in the digital space.
