D&AD 2014 beckons; ‘Tactical Advertising’ among 12 new categories

D&AD 2014 beckons; ‘Tactical Advertising’ among 12 new categories

Organisers of the D&AD Awards have called for entries for the 52nd edition, named jury members and announced the introduction of 12 categories.

Representing India on the juries at D&AD 2014 will be Kartik Iyer, co-Founder and CEO, Happy (Direct); Ram Sinam, partner, Trapeze (Crafts for Design);  Sajan Raj Kurup, founder and creative chairman, Creativeland Asia (Integrated and Earned Media); and Sujata Keshavan, co-founder and ECD, Ray+Keshavan | Brand Union (Branding); and Tista Sen, NCD and SVP, JWT India (Outdoor).

Among jury Foremen is Amir Kassaei, chief creative officer, DDB Worldwide. The full list of judges is at www.dandad.org/awards14.

12 new categories

With some of the most talked about campaigns of the last 12 months being those that reacted in real time to world events, organisers said a ‘Tactical Advertising’ category across Press, Radio, Outdoor and Digital competitions has been introduced. Campaigns that responded to the news agenda or were created as one-off pieces will be considered, informed a D&AD statement.

Under Mobile Marketing, two new categories have been introduced: ‘UX, Interface & Navigation for Mobile Marketing’ and ‘Use of Mobile Technology’.

Among others, D&AD has also introduced three new categories for ‘Innovation’ under the Integrated & Earned Media, Digital Marketing and Digital Design competitions.

Tim Lindsay, CEO, D&AD, said, “We are hoping to see the work that has set the bar for creativity across design, advertising, mobile, technology and film-making this year. To recognise and reward those who are at the forefront of the business, we have also introduced new categories to accurately reflect the emerging directions for the industry.”
