Star Sports has rolled out its campaign for the upcoming Test cricket series between India and South Africa, presented by Paytm.
The network has billed the Gandhi-Mandela cup as the ‘Freedom Series’. Two films that have been conceptualised in house are currently on air.
One film shows three young men watching TV at home as the match is about to begin. They stand in attention as the Indian national anthem plays. When it’s time for the South African anthem, only one of them remains standing. Seeing him even refuse to take his mother’s call in order to respect the opponents’ national anthem, the other two join in. A super reads: 'Freedom is the choice to respect the other anthem'.
Another promo features a father and son watching a match on TV. As Indian wickets fall, the father gets irritated and tells his son that the match is now a lost cause. He switches off the television and moves to another room. The son puts the TV back on as Virat Kohli warms up to face his first delivery. As he plays a few shots and the momentum tilts again, the son cheers on. The older man is back, standing in the corner of the room to watch, despite his son’s taunts. This film ends with the message: 'Freedom is to believe that you can'.
