Ahead of what promises to be a relaxed weekend for most, here’s a promotion that rewarded yawns.
Douwe Egberts, a Dutch coffee manufacturer, decided to reward yawns with coffee at the O.R. Tambo International Airport in Kempton Park, South Africa.
The campaign is based on the insight that a coffee is needed most when a person yawns. And there’s no dearth of yawns at airports. The company dispensed a coffee free each time it detected a yawn through a facial recognition system on its vending machines at the terminal.
The campaign titled 'Bye Bye Red Eye' served more than 210 airport passengers for free.
