Rahul Welde, vice president, Media, Unilever Asia has been named as chairman of the just launched Asia-Pacific Media & Marketing Network of the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA). Welde (pictured) will also the join the WFA's Executive Committee.
The main objective of the WFA is to drive common understanding and actions related to advertising and media. The network also aims to enable more effective and efficient marketing marketing communications in all APAC countries. Lastly, it aims to share experiences and insights in order to advance the marketing communications discipline.
The APAC network is open to all members of the WFA and will seek to act as a regional voice for marketers to tackle critical media and marketing related issues in order to improve industry practice. It will initially focus on critical issues such as marketing in a downturn, research and measurement, structuring regional marketing resources and agency remuneration.
The group will work closely with the WFA Asia-Pacific network of national advertiser associations, which includes Australia, China, India, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines and South Korea.
The WFA seeks to increase its involvement and presence in fast growing markets of APAC through this new initiative.
