PaRa Music has launched as India’s first AI-powered music company, introducing a model that combines artist-created music with proprietary artificial intelligence tools designed to guide investment, distribution and monetisation decisions across the music value chain.
Founded by industry veteran Rashna Pochkhanawala and backed by Apollo Growth Capital, the company will focus on building a large-scale music catalogue while using AI-led insights to improve how music is discovered and consumed. The company plans to develop a catalogue of 40,000 songs over the next four years, spanning film and non-film music across Hindi and regional languages.
The launch comes at a time when India’s music industry continues to expand rapidly, supported by streaming growth and increasing consumption across regional language markets. According to industry estimates cited in the announcement, the Indian music market is projected to reach INR 7,500 crore by 2028, growing at a CAGR of 9%, while global recorded music is expected to move towards USD 200 billion by 2035. Despite this growth, the company noted that discovery gaps persist, particularly for regional and non-film music.
PaRa Music’s model is positioned to address these gaps by combining creative production with data-led decision-making. While music creation remains entirely in the hands of artists, composers and songwriters, the company uses its AI system, PaRaMeter™, to analyse audience behaviour across platforms and identify demand trends that can inform catalogue development and release strategies.
PaRaMeter™ is described as the company’s internal “AI Chief of Music Intelligence”. It does not generate music but instead focuses on analysing listening patterns, audience signals and platform data to support decisions around investment, distribution timing and monetisation strategy. The aim is to improve the alignment between music supply and audience demand, particularly in under-penetrated segments.
Rashna Pochkhanawala, founder of PaRa Music, said, “India has one of the world’s richest and most diverse music ecosystems, yet much of its potential remains untapped. PaRa Music was founded to unlock this opportunity through technology, data, and strategic investment in Music IP. As the global recorded music market moves towards $200 billion by 2035, we believe India is poised to become a major growth engine. Backed by an all-star team of music, technology, content, and business leaders, we are building a next-generation music company with the ambition to become one of India’s most valuable Music IP businesses while ensuring that great Indian music finds its audience.”
Apollo Growth Capital, which has backed the venture, highlighted the convergence of market opportunity, leadership capability and business model innovation within the sector. A spokesperson from the firm, said, “We rarely encounter opportunities where a large market, a proven business model, and exceptional leadership converge so clearly. India’s music economy is entering a period of unprecedented growth, and we believe Music IP will be one of the defining asset classes of the next decade. Rashna has already demonstrated her ability to build and scale valuable music businesses, and PaRa Music is uniquely positioned to capture this opportunity at a national scale, with AI driving the growth and the monetization model, we are excited to unravel the next chapter of India’s music scene. We are proud to partner Rashna’s vision and are committing significant capital behind the company’s growth.”
Beyond catalogue development, PaRa Music also plans to work with government bodies to support cultural and creative initiatives linked to music, while building monetisation pathways for artists and rights holders. The company’s broader ambition is to strengthen India’s position in the global recorded music ecosystem by combining technology, content scale and structured rights management.
With its AI-led intelligence layer and large-scale content strategy, PaRa Music is positioning itself at the intersection of technology, entertainment and intellectual property, aiming to reshape how Indian music is produced, distributed and commercialised.
