OPPO India has partnered with Instagram to launch the OPPO LUMO Creator Program, a creator-focused initiative aimed at supporting India’s next generation of visual storytellers through content challenges, mentorship, certification and content amplification.
The collaboration brings together OPPO’s imaging technology and Instagram’s content discovery ecosystem to help creators enhance content quality, expand audience reach and access professional development opportunities. The programme is designed to support creators across India, with a particular focus on micro and nano creators in regional markets where smartphones remain the primary content creation tool.
The initiative aligns with the rapid growth of India’s creator economy, as mobile-first content creation continues to reshape how content is produced and consumed. With India hosting the world’s largest community of Instagram creators, the programme seeks to provide emerging talent with pathways for visibility, audience growth and career development.
At the centre of the partnership is OPPO’s LUMO Image Engine, which the company positions as a human-centred imaging technology designed to deliver true-to-life light, depth and detail. By combining these capabilities with Instagram’s content distribution infrastructure, the brands aim to create stronger opportunities for storytelling, engagement and creator discovery.
A key feature of the collaboration is the introduction of near-lossless Instagram uploads on the OPPO Find X Series. The integration is designed to preserve image and video quality from capture through to publishing, enabling creators to share content with minimal loss of detail, colour and dynamic range.
Goldee Patnaik, head of communications at OPPO India, said, “At OPPO, our philosophy of ‘Make Your Moment’ is rooted in enabling youth to capture and share their stories in authentic, impactful ways. With Instagram, we are building a program that brings this vision to life, putting the power of storytelling into the hands of millions of young creators across the country. This is not just about showcasing our imaging capabilities, but about enabling a new generation of India to be seen, heard, and discovered, while shaping a culture where creativity and self-expression truly thrive.”
Simon Liu, global imaging director at OPPO, added, “Today’s creators don’t just capture moments, they shape culture. With LUMO Imaging, our goal is to make powerful and effortless imaging experiences accessible to everyone. We have designed our imaging systems to adapt to real-life scenarios - whether it’s shooting in low light, capturing motion, or creating expressive portraits, so creators can focus on their story, not the settings. India’s creator energy is unmatched, and we are proud to build imaging experiences that are truly made for this generation.”
For Instagram, the initiative represents a new form of collaboration with smartphone manufacturers focused on creator enablement and content discovery. Rishad Chindamada, vertical head for tech, Meta India, said, “Creator partnerships are no longer just an engagement play—they're a business driver. The OPPO LUMO Creator Program positions Instagram Reels as the canvas where hardware innovation meets every day storytelling — translating product capabilities into authentic, relatable narratives. By empowering grassroots creators across regional India, we're delivering both cultural relevance and tangible business impact for brands.”
The always-on programme includes monthly themed challenges focused on youth culture and everyday storytelling, platform-first content formats tailored for Instagram, content amplification opportunities across OPPO and Instagram ecosystems, and access to masterclasses, mentorship sessions and experiential learning opportunities. Winners will also receive Meta × OPPO certification.
Participants can enter monthly contests using designated Instagram hashtags, with submissions evaluated on engagement rates, creativity, originality and cultural relevance. Selected creators will also gain opportunities for international exposure through a global showcase programme.
To further support creator development, OPPO will launch an expert-led vodcast featuring industry leaders including Ankit Rihal, Simon Liu, Vikram Channa, Joseph Radhik, Tanya Khanijow and Kenny Sebastian. The series will address creator challenges, emerging trends and strategies for growth within the digital content ecosystem.
The partnership reinforces OPPO’s broader marketing strategy of building deeper connections with creator communities while showcasing its imaging capabilities through real-world content creation experiences.
